REVIEW – Despicable Me 2

Sequel to 2010’s box office hit & America’s 10th biggest animated film Despicable Me, the latest from Gru and his Minions is double the fun, double the laughs and double the despicable! As you’d expect, there’s more funny antics from the Minions. There’s a strong story with a couple of twists along the way to keep you on the edge of your seat! (or falling off of it, with laughter…). Gru (Steve Carrel) is called up by the anti-villain league to help defeat a new super-villain before they destroy the world! Meanwhile, Margo, one of Gru’s girls, meets the love of her life and Agnes meets the fairy princess at her birthday party!

I saw the 3D version and was impressed at the quality of 3D – a few things jump out at you in the film, and if you stay for a few minutes after the credits start, you’ll be in for a 3D treat involving bubbles… I’ll say no more! Having said that, I’m sure it’s just as enjoyable in 2D. If you’re a fan of 3D then i’d recommend seeing it in 3D. There’s plenty of funny moments that all the family can enjoy throughout, so it should definitely keep the kids entertained!

What are other customers saying? I hear you ask… so far reactions have all been positive, someone mentioning that kids who would normally fidget sat still the whole way through, others saying they cried with laughter at the minions! Go and see it for yourselves! Click here to book

REVIEW – World War Z

120907h1World War Z (15)

reviewed by Dan Spracklen200px-4_stars.svg[1]

Brad Pitt stars in this new sci-fi thriller. He’s a retired military man, enjoying a quiet life with his wife and two young girls. That is, until, on the school run one day…. a zombie apocalypse begins. He’s called back into action to help figure out what this strange disease is, and how to stop the spread. Of course, this puts him and us as the audience in some tense and dangerous situations, as we follow Pitt as he tries to figure out what exactly is going on, and avoid being bitten by one of the ‘undead’ (and therefore becoming undead himself). Tense stuff! Not too much gore, though, which personally I think is a good thing – it allows more focus on the story and other action (and means the audience don’t get too queasy!). But will Pitt fulfill his promise to return to his family? With millions of zombies on the loose, the odds are against him.

Top notch visual effects and acting throughout, this is a definite must see for any sci-fi and/or thriller fans. Most of the American street scenes were filmed on location in Glasgow, Scotland (though, you can’t tell!), and all scenes on water, including a shot near the end of the film, which many of us locals will (or, should…) recognise as Lulworth Cove!

Thoroughly enjoyed it, well worth a watch! Remember, it’s a 15 so bring your ID if you look under 18 as you will be asked for it!

Decpicable Me 2 Review

Decpicable Me 2 (U)

Reviewed By Kate Maitland-Gleed

Star Rating: 5 Stars

OMG, this film was totes amaze-balls!! I absolutely loved the first Despicable Me and though it had left such a good reputation that nothing could be better… How wrong I was! This film is called Despicable Me 2 for many reasons; mostly because it is the second film, but also because it had twice the amount of fun, twice the amount of laughs, and twice the amount of mischief!!!

After undertaking the task of single, but loving parent, Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) puts his villainous career to the side. But when an offer arises from the Anti-Villain League to capture a powerful super villain, Gru has no choice but get out his most deadly weapon once again… The Fart Gun!!! With help from his trusted minion – who are once again the stars of the show and who touch our hearts and our funny bones, there is nothing stopping Gru; until a beautiful, if slightly deranged side kick (voiced by Kristen Wiig) is sent to watch over him, Gru has more to think about than catching a mad villain! With all the lovable voices once again; including Ken Jeong (The Hangover), Miranda Cosgrove (School Of Rock), Russell Brand (Hop), Steve Coogan (Around the World in 80 Days) and Benjamin Bratt (Miss Congeniality) this film will have your sides splitting.

When I went to see this film, I struggled to find a seat because the screening was so full up! Containing humour for both the children and the adults to enjoy, this is a hit film for everyone! Trust me, I’m 15 years old, wanted to go and see World War Z but saw Despicable Me instead… So very glad I chose the later!! Go and see this film… If you don’t I will boil you in a vat of jam and throw you to the man eating sharks!!! Sorry, my super-villain side must have come out then! But seriously, go and watch this film!!!
