Blog & Film Times: 23 Aug – 29 Aug

Goooood Afternoon!

Lone Ranger, Alan Partridge, Bachelorette, and Percy Jackson have all left us this week! But fear not, brand new comedy We’re the Millers, along with Elysium and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones have all joined us for another week of movie madness here at the Plaza! Also on Thursday we’re showing One Direction: This is Us – but if you want to see it on Thursday do book your tickets soon, as it’s nearly sold out! Fear not 1D fans, it’s also showing from Friday 30th!

Note that We’re The Millers and Elysium are both rated 15 (as is Kick-Ass 2 which is still showing), and so you will be asked for ID if you look under 18. Valid ID includes passport (or photocopy of passport), student card, birth certificate with bank card, Pass ID card, and driving license.

As always, happy cinema going!

Blog and Film Times Fri 16 Aug – Thurs 22 Aug

Evening all,

Despicable Me 2 is still proving VERY popular this summer, in fact we SOLD OUT yet again today, so make sure you book in advance for this one, especially if you’re coming on a rainy day! Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa has also been fairly popular and sold out a few times this week – if you’ve not had a chance to see it yet do come in as we’ve got it for another week! New this week we have: Planes (2D & 3D) – the latest Disney adventure from above the world of Disney/Pixar’s Cars! Also starting its full run is Kick-Ass 2 – please note this film is a 15 – meaning if you look under 18 you MUST have ID with you, or else you won’t be getting in – this is still the case with online tickets, ID must be shown on the door as well as when buying tickets from the box office.

On Wednesday and Thursday we’ve got preview screenings of supernatural The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (12A), and of Matt Damon’s latest film, Elysium (15).

Happy cinema going! Film times are below

THE WORLD’S END starring Simon Pegg & Nick Frost – Starts Friday!

The World’s End (15 – ID required if you look under 18, parental consent not valid ID)

They’ve given us Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Paul… and now, from Director Edgar Wright, they give us The World’s End. Starts Friday here at the Plaza and you’ll be able to book from tomorrow (Monday).

Synopsis: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realise the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
