BLOG & FILM TIMES Fri 5 July until Thurs 11 July

Hello!

It’s been a busy week with Despicable Me 2 proving popular, so needless to say we’re still showing it in 2D and 3D this week (from Friday). Our first screeening of Now You See Me (12A) sold out last night, so this may be the one to watch this week! It’s a suspense/ thriller starring Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman and Dave Franco, among others. The new comedy from duo Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn is also with us this week – The Internship (12A) sees the pair battle for a handful of jobs at Google.

Tickets are now on sale for our charity performance, by kind permission of Disney Pictures UK and Mr Adam Cunard (Managing Director of Picturedrome Electric Theatre Co. Ltd) of new Disney/Pixar film Monsters University! There’ll be prizes for best fancy dress.. It’s on Saturday 20th July at 8pm. £3.50 per person, cash only and available at the box office when we’re open.

Tickets for The Wolverine, showing from Friday 26th July in 2D and 3D are also now on sale!

BLOG & FILM TIMES – Fri 28 June until Thurs 4 July

Goooood afternoon!

Wow – we were packed out over the weekend for the advanced screenings of Despicable Me 2 (sold out every showing…). But fear not! It’s back with us from Friday, showing in 2D and 3D every day. Not seen Man of Steel yet? Not to worry, we’ve still got it from Friday aswell! New films this week – This is the End a comedy from Seth Rogen, which follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles.  We’ve also got advanced screenings on Wednesday and Thursday of Now You See Me, a suspense/thriller, which sees the world’s greatest illusionists known as “The Four Horsemen” pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders. Let’s not forget – we’ve also got advanced screenings on Wednesday and Thursday of the new Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn comedy The Internship. The two play salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, they defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship at Google. The film also stars Will Ferrell and John Goodman.

Also, we’ve got the thriller Confine, showing Mon to Thurs at 2.20.

Don’t forget, by kind permission of Disney Pictures UK and Mr Adam Cunard (Managing Director of Picturedrome Electric Theatre Co.), we’re hosting a charity performance of Monsters University on Saturday 20th July at 8pm – tickets are available when the box office is open, priced at £3.50 each. Good afternoon!

We’ve been bustling this week with new superman film Man of Steel proving popular! If you’ve not seen it yet fear not! It’s still showing from Friday for another week in 2D & 3D. Behind the Candelabra has also been proving popular, with customers saying they’ve very much enjoyed it – so that’s showing still from Friday!

New films this week – World War Z, the new zombie film starring Brad Pitt, looks sure to be a good-un! Some scenes were filmed at Lulworth Cove! It’s rated 15 though, so please remember to bring your I.D. if you look under 18, otherwise we can’t let you in. Snitch, starring Dwayne Johnson is a new fast-paced action thriller which poses the question – how far would you go to save your son? We’re also showing much asked for Summer In February this week for one week only, which is also a 15, and on Saturday and Sunday we’ve got advanced screenings of Despicable Me 2!

On Friday 21st June, another cinema joins Picturedrome Electric Theatre Company Ltd – the Century Cinema in Clacton on Sea!

In addition, by kind permission of Disney Pictures UK, and Mr Adam Cunard (Managing Director of Picturedrome Electric Theatre Co.), we are hosting a charity performance of MONSTERS UNIVERSITY on Sat 20th July at 8pm – tickets will go on sale Wednesday 26th June, priced at £3.50 each – available from the box office when the cinema is open. All proceeds will go to West Dorset Women’s Refuge. There’ll be prizes for best costumes!

BLOG & FILM TIMES Fri 14 June – Thurs 20 June

Good Afternoon!

Feeling that Superman vibe yet? This week we’re showing Man of Steel every day in 2D and 3D! Grab your tickets online now! If superheros aren’t quite your thing, we’ve got After Earth showing in the evenings this week, plus brand new Behind The Candelabra if you fancy a bit of Matt Damon in a sparkly suit! For the kids (and the big kids…), we’re still showing Epic 2D this weekend!

On Tuesday of this week we’re showing Pompeii Live from the British Museum, a special broadcast from the British Museum, which is sold out. On Wednesday we have our first encore performance of NT Live: The Audience with Helen Mirren, which is also sold out! There are still a few tickets left for the 3rd encore of The Audience, which is on Tuesday 3rd September at 7.30pm – grab them while you can!

Despicable Me 2 has it’s preview screenings next weekend, 22nd & 23rd & starts its main run from Friday 28th June! I, for one, am much looking forward to this one! A few weeks later, the eagerly anticipated Monsters University will be on our screens! We might have a special performance of this film lined up for you… watch this space!

Picturedome and Gala keep cinema alive in Clacton

Gala Bingo and Picturedrome Electric Theatre Co Ltd are delighted to announce that the former Flicks Cinema will re-open on June 21st, under its original name of Century Cinema. The cinema which has been at the heart of the local community, will also be celebrating its 75th anniversary. Managing Director Adam Cunard from Picturedrome who will be operating the cinema said “We are delighted as a Company to be coming to Clacton, since the cinema closed we have been working closely with Gala Bingo to re-open the venue and are delighted to announce today that we are opening in a few weeks time. The cinema has under-gone a makeover and will have many new exciting features from when it closed last October, we are excited to welcome customers both old and new back”

Peter Willans, Head of Property from Gala said “ We recognise what a valuable part the cinema played within the local community and in Picturedrome we are delighted to have secured a community focused operator for the next 15 years. We look forward to working in partnership with Picturedrome, to deliver the best cinema and Bingo experience in Clacton.”

The cinema which will re-open on 21st June will have a 4K Sony Digital projection, a feature that can’t be found in other cinemas in the area, Dolby 7.1 Digital sound to make the experience better than ever, air conditioning and heating in both screens, there will also be the added benefit of satellite technology which will enable the cinema to host operas, ballet and theatre productions in the future.. exciting times ahead. In addition to these new facilities, the cinema will also be operating an Online Booking service, and continue to offer great deals to customers,such as only charging £2.50 from Monday to Friday and £3.50 Saturdays and Sundays.
