Lastly, it is tied together with a brilliant story – the perfect family film for Easter! The latest animation from the people that bought us Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon and Rise of the Gaurdians (among many others), is an instant hit with children, teens and adults alike. Nicolas Cage (National Treasure, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) voices the ‘Dad’ of the Croods (a caveman family) – a man who is all in controll, who keeps the Croods family safe from the dangers of the outside world. That is, of course, until Guy shows up and tells them that the world is of course, ending… Voiced by Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, The Proposal), Guy is an adventurous and spontanious young man who is full of original ideas (shoes included) – he’s everything that Grug is not. Eep (the daughter) takes an interest in Guy, and as you can imagine, Grug is not happy about this, leading to many humurous outcomes. So that leaves 4 more Croods – Ugga (the baby), Thunk (a rather dim-witted son), and Gran.

The film is entertaining throughout, with many comical situations. I was very impressed with the use of 3D on this film, as it really bought some of the scenes to life – however for those of you who aren’t a fan of 3D you won’t miss out on much in the 2D version. The story follows The Croods, along with Guy and his belt, Belt after The Croods’ cave is destroyed and they must get to a safe place, because Guy predicts the world is ending. Some of the humour is based around how nieve cavemen were, which is really clever and funny to watch.croods

Definatley one to watch if you’re struggling for ideas this Easter! If you’re a fan of animated movies, Dreamworks Animation, or indeed the Ice Age films then I think you will love this!

Note the 3D version is only showing until and including Thurs 4th April. The 2D version is still showing from 5th April.
