Jack The Giant Slayer

Jack The Giant Slayer (12A)

Star Rating: 4 Star

We all know the childhood story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, but is that the whole picture? Did the giants stay up in the clouds and everyone lives happily ever after? Or is there a darker side? Well for a start, in the fairytale I know, Jack wasn’t a good looking charmer with a good sense of humour and a fear of heights! One that note, I must say that Nicholas Hoult has come a long way from his days in About a Boy and you can see a Hugh Grant influence there!

This fairytale adaptation is yet again, another film that has an amazing all star cast. These include; Ewan McGregor (plays Elmont), Stanley Tucci (plays Roderick), Eddie Marsan (plays Crawe), Ian McShane (plays King Brahmwell), Warwick Davis (plays Old Hamm) and of course the main characters, Eleanor Tomlinson (plays Princess Isabelle) and Nicholas Hoult (plays Jack). Even the giants have famous voices that are easily recognised – Bill Nighy (voice of General Fallon), Don McCorkindale among others.

With flecks of humour and a big twist on a childhood tale, this is an unmissable movie! Judging by the trailers alone, this film is defiantly one to watch. At times I felt slightly bemused due to abrupt ending to scenes, but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing another side to a well known classic. And I must admit, at times I was slightly intimidatImageed by the gruesome looking giants! Not going to lie, I did jump once or twice! With an endearing twist at the end, if you’re looking for something to do with the kids over Easter, I would recommend going to see Jack the Giant Slayer!!!
