Harry Potter fans all over the world have been both excited and sad at the upcoming final instalment in the Harry Potter series, which arrives on our big screens in less than a months’ time. J.K. Rowling has kept her fans gripped for over 15 years since the first novel was released. The film franchise is produced by David Heyman and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as the three leading characters, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The series is the highest grossing film series of all time.

We have all followed the journey of the young best friends Harry, Ron and Hermione as they have grown up in the magical world together attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main storyline is Harry’s quest to overcome the evil dark wizard Lord Voldemort, whose aim is to conquer the wizarding world and overpower non-magical people (known as Muggles). Lord Voldemort seeks to destroy all those who stand in his way, such as Harry’s parents. The films revolve around Harry Potter, an orphan who discovers at the age of eleven that he is a wizard, living within the ordinary world of Muggle people. Wizard ability is inborn, but magical children like Harry are invited to attend wizarding school to learn the magical skills necessary to succeed in the wizarding world. Harry becomes a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and it is here that most of the events of the novels take place, as Harry develops through his adolescence, learning to overcome the problems that face him, magical, social and emotional, including ordinary teenage challenges such as friendships and exams, and the greater challenge of preparing himself for the confrontation that lies ahead.

In the previous film, Harry, Ron and Hermione are entrusted with a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s secret to immortality which are the Horcruxes. It is supposed to be final year at Hogwarts, but due to the collapse of the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort’s rise to power they are prevented from attending. The trio undergo a long and confrontational adventure with many obstacles in their path including Death Eaters, Snatchers, the mysterious Deathly Hallows and Harry’s connection with the Dark Lord’s mind becoming ever stronger. In the last film fans had to say a tragic goodbye to some much loved characters and this film continues with the loss of memorable characters.

After destroying one Horcrux and discovering the significance of the three Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron and Hermione continue to seek the other Horcruxes in an attempt to destroy Lord Voldemort. However, now that the Dark Lord has obtained the yet unbeatable Elder Wand, he aims to complete his final stage to ultimate power and launches an attack on Hogwarts School, where the trio return for one last stand against the dark forces that threaten to take over the Wizarding and Muggle worlds.

This film is the end of an Era, as the cast and fans say their final farewell to the magical world.
